Wound Care Cream Rx

When used correctly, Compound Wound Care Rx is well tolerated. Compound Wound Care Rx should not be used in patients with renal impairment without consulting a physician.

Most people continue to use Compound Wound Care Rx until their wound has completely healed. However, healing times are different for everyone and they often depend on the severity of the wound. Sometimes a wound can look healed when it is really not, therefore, you should continue to use Compound Wound Care Rx until your doctor or healthcare provider tells you to stop.

Wound Care Rx is a prescription medication that is custom made in our state-of-the-art pharmacy laboratory by a specialized pharmacist based on the orders of your physician. It is not available at chain drug stores and must be made by an experienced compounding pharmacy. Wound Care Rx has several ingredients that work synergistically to eradicate the bacteria, and to decrease pain, itching and irritation to the wound area. The use of topical formulations for treatment of wounds decreases the risk of adverse effects and potential drug to drug interactions associated with systemic medications, thus resulting in significantly improved healing.

Gentamicin/Tobramycin -Most active against aerobic gram-negative rods, but it is also used in combination with other antibiotics to treat Staphylococcus aureus and certain species of streptococcus.

Clindamycin -Anti-anaerobic activity, either bacteriostatic or bactericidal.

Polymyxin B -Spectrum of activity is limited to gram-negative bacteria, bactericidal against most gram-negative bacilli.

Itraconazole / Ketoconazole -Antifungal agent with broad spectrum activity.

Linezolid -Antibiotic used for the treatment of serious infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics including vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE), and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Levofloxacin -Antibacterial agent used for Staphylococcus, Strep and MRSA -Used topically for fruity smelling wounds (pseudomonas)

Metronidazole -Antibacterial and antiprotozoal agent with effective coverage against many anaerobic organisms. -Used topically, also provides control of wound odor.

Mupirocin -Antibacterial agent used topically against gram-positive bacteria, including MRSA.

Nifedipine -A blood pressure medication, that inhibits calcium influx into smooth muscles which decrease vascular tone, thereby, increasing blood flow and vascularization of treated area.

Phenytoin -Promotes granulation (tissue proliferation) in a healing wound. -Decreases discharge, alleviates pain, exerts an antimicrobial effect, counteracts inflammation. -Proven effective in treatment of decubitus ulcers, traumatic wounds, diabetic and burn ulcers.

Vancomycin -Antibacterial agent used topically against gram-positive bacteria, including MRSA.

1.)Please read your prescription label for directions before applying.

2.)Use a glove or apply using a cotton swab to the affected wound.

3.)Apply a thin continuous layer; enough to cover the surface of the wound.

4.)Cover the wound dressing based on your physician’s orders.

5.)Wash your hands with soap immediately after using Wound Care Rx

6.)Wound Care Rx should be applied as directed until the wound heals.

7.)Pay close attention to the Beyond Use Date (BUD) on your bottle. Custom compound formulas may have a 30 day beyond use date based on FDA guidelines and should be properly discarded after this time.

If you forget to apply Compound Wound Care Rx, wait until your next regularly scheduled dose. DO NOT apply more than one dose of Compound Wound Care Rx to make up for missing doses.
